I responded to a misleading job listing the other day in rochester, NH. The listing was for a position paying $500 a week in a sales position plus bonuses. They also claimed that the pay wasnt based on sales and it was guaranteed. My friend first found the ad in the fosters and decided to check it out. He explained a little to me (hes 18 and i am 26) and some red flags went up. (2 min interview and hired on the spot, with some too good to be true claims.) The business is called MCM merchandising. I setup and interview myself with no interest of being hired but to check out the validity for my young friend… which after going to the interview found out that it was what used to be the Rochester Kirby dealer. They are keeping kirby out of the name to get more people to come down for interviews. Now here is where i saw concern and figured you guys might want to know. They Tell you that they will call you at 2pm and let you know if you have the job. Then they call at 2pm and say you have he job and orientation is in a couple days and that there are two days of training and two days of tag along sales. After asking  the guy a bunch of  questions I found out they have no intention of paying you for the two days of training and expect you to give them as many names and addresses of family members so they can take you to try to sell things to your family. They claim that there are bonuses for the weekend but.. I was able to get him to admit there is no salary like the listing said. He responded saying that they setup 15 showings for you each week and that you would have to be an absolute jerk to not be able to sell anything.  They are preying on young kids and I was very glad i took the time to check it out for my friend. I saved him quite the run around.  I was also able to confirm in the interview that they are associated with L&R Merchandising in Concord NH which I have read some really horrible reviews from both customers and employees online claiming they werent being paid the wages they were promised and they are told anything to basically quick their current job and join their sales team.  Last i checked if and employer asks and employee to show up for work, they have to pay the employee for their time (NH state labor laws)..  They are located on 1 winter st in rochester.   In such a hard job market these guys really are preying on young people and people starving for work.  Don’t waste your time.

its a guaranteed job though.. if you dont mind working for free and driving around and trying to sell stuff to your friends and not being reimbursed for travel expenses or even time… Do some google searches on L&R and you will want to run away from these places.  The NH labor board has been notified as well.
